Letter dated April 25, 1865 about the late president states that he is pleased that his old flags did something for their country; letter dated July 10, 1865 talks of the Lincoln Monument Association and a sobering 4th of July in Boston, Mass.; letter of September 2, 1865 describes the return of the 54th regiment of Massachusetts Infantry and the anticipated return of the 29th regiment of Connecticut Infantry.
